OUR HISTORY
Scout was founded by Steve Potts, a boat builder who has a passion for creating the finest crafts possible. The first boat Steve built was a 14-foot fishing boat that he called the Scout. Eventually, this little boat became immensely popular with anglers and gave Steve a reputation in the industry for quality and precision.
Building on the first boat’s success, Scott continued to innovate and eventually developed new designs and larger crafts. His business was becoming a success and he was living the American dream: making a living off of doing what he loved.
In 1989, Hurricane Hugo tested the strength of Scout Boats. Although the operations were leveled by the storm, our boat manufacturing company was able to rebuild and recreate. When operations and infrastructure were rebuilt, the company came out stronger than ever.
Scout Boats eventually started making appearances at boat shows and became a star sport fishing boat manufacturer in the industry. When the economic recession started in 2008, Scout Boats continued to thrive, thanks in no small part to Steve’s leadership. With an unwavering commitment to design, engineering, and craftsmanship, Scout Boats is set to continue success in the future.
