Scout Boats Unveils New 35’ Flagship: 350 Abaco Series

SUMMERVILLE, SC – Scout Boats is debuting its largest model to date and its newest addition to the popular Abaco Series line, the revolutionary all-new 350 Abaco Series.

The 350, four years in the making, was designed in conjunction with world renown naval architect Michael Peters. Once again, Scout has created a fuel efficient hull design without sacrificing the high performance characteristics of the model. Showcasing a top speed of over 50 mph / 45+ knots and a cruising range of 450 miles due in part to its dual tank 330 gallon fuel capacity and twin Yamaha 350 hp engines, the flagship vessel is also extremely agile.

Scout’s newest creation also houses a unique, one-of-a-kind fully-finished systems room that rivals engine rooms on multi-million dollar sportfishers. One can step down in the systems room with ease, taking advantage of an uncluttered working area and ample lighting to service every major systems component within easy reach.

Fishing features are more than abundant on the 350, including 85 square feet of cockpit area; a 60-quart insulated bait well with overboard drain and 1100 gph pump; rigging station with fresh water sink and bait freezer box with trays; numerous rod holders including six in the gunnel and a unique clearing trolling rod holder set-up in the forward cockpit; four under-gunnel rod storage racks; horizontal rod storage above the dinette area and dedicated space below deck large enough to hold seven more rods; and a hard top which houses bomar hatches, recessed speakers, spreader lights, courtesy lights, map light and a molded radar pod.

With 3 berths (a forward master berth with deluxe mattress, mid-starboard cabin dinette conversion berth and aft cabin berth), the model more than comfortably sleeps five. Custom cherry wood lines the interior of the cabin, including the cabinetry and adjustable dinette table with seating arrangements for four people. The sole is teak and holly, while the main closet is cedar-lined. Premium quality leather touch vinyl can be found in the headliner and dinette cushions. There’s even carved glass art designed by Guy Harvey and produced by world-renown glass sand carver Lex Melfi to add to the aesthetics.

The 10,000 BTU air conditioner / heat pump keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter down below while the 11-gallon water heater keeps the hot water flowing for showers or cooking, and everyone will enjoy the 6’4” spacious headroom in the ventilated, fully enclosed head – complete with dedicated shower area with teak floor, vessel sink with Corian counter surface, vanity area with mirror and lighting, overhead frosted skylight and three storage cabinets.

The galley houses an electric glass top stove with two burners and a stainless steel two-level pull-out refrigerator and separate stainless steel two-level pullout freezer with ice maker. The microwave oven, coffee maker, large sink with Corian counter cover and overhead hatch for ventilation all offer home-like accommodations for any oceangoer.

Down below, the crew can watch their favorite shows or movies on the cable ready 26” LCD flat screen TV complete with DVD player. The premium sound system with CD player has MP3 ready connections and is Sirius satellite ready.

Above deck, passengers will enjoy the added comfort of a second air conditioner / heat pump (16,000 BTU) for the helm. Passengers will also enjoy the comfortable seating throughout the cockpit and deck – including an adjustable helm chair (with adjustable foot rest), port lounge seat with cooler underneath, starboard seat with cooler underneath and a convertible hideaway table. Additional cockpit seating can be utilized with the hideaway seat at the stern. The windshield is powder-coated aluminum, and has windshield wipers with intermittent controls and fresh water wash with three spray heads.

The 350, which is constructed of 100% hand-laid composite, also showcases hydraulic steering with Edson stainless finger-grip 14” wheel, and Teleflex power assist steering; a unique, clutter-free recessed / enclosed anchor windlass with chain and rode that also includes remote and footswitches and freshwater wash attachment; Lewmar 6hp bow thruster; fresh and raw water washdown;  plumbed fresh water engine flush; LED lighting in the gunnels and helm; a portside cooler / freezer box with digital thermostat and overboard drain; a 50 amp shore power system and Fischer Panda 8kw 21-gallon diesel generator; and an integrated fiberglass transom door that leads the way to the integrated swim platforms with teak inlays and an Armstrong retractable dive ladder.

Beyond the fishing and comfort features on the model, Scout also has safety top of mind for any crew member on board. That’s why the 350 also offers a first aid kit; an integrated fire extinguisher; fully non-skid floor surface; high water alarm system with helm indicator, carbon monoxide detector; and a large size overhead V berth escape hatch just to name a few.

Everything mentioned above does come standard on the 350 Abaco Series, but there are a few optional features available such as the Glendinning Shore Power 50 amp system with remote wind and 50’ cord, electrical all-directional adjustable deluxe helm chair, Rupp Standard Lift-Out Ruppriggers with two integrated teaser reels, Ray Marine electronics package, fish box refrigerator/freezer plates, full hull color, powder-coated hardtop frame and even a second upper station with a buggy top.

Scout builds sportfishing, fish ‘n ski, walk around, flats and bay boat models ranging from 14’ to 35’. Since it’s founding nearly two decades ago, Scout Boat’s goal has been to manufacture the best-built boats in its distinctive sportfishing niches.  Each Scout hull is a true original, as the in-house research and design team works closely with engineering to take concepts from blueprint to production more efficiently, growing the company’s world-class reputation for quality, strength, durability and value.
